“Take all that you own Child of Light and never return. Leave your faithful companion horse, he will pass in a few months, but keep brother wolf by your side.”

Celeste’s disturbing dream kept her from catching a good nights rest.  She tossed and turned most of the evening away until she could stand no more.  The little voice inside her head demanded her to wake up and view the fire.  Wolf licked her cheek, encouraging her to rise.  When she began to sit up, everyone of her muscles screamed out in pain.  Bear and grinning it she rose and put a pot of coffee on.  Then went back to the fire an added another log.  It was four am and her husband hadn’t returned.

Her gash on her arm was throbbing, she went by her lovely Aloe Vera plant and snipped off a thick stem.  She smothered the gooey substance all over the wound.  Breathing a sign of relief, she went back into the kitchen and poured herself a cup of hot coffee.  She sat down on the bear rug next to Wolf in front of the fire and watched the flames rock her into a trance.  She softly spoke a Cherokee prayer.

“O Great Spirit, help this half-breed always to speak the truth quietly, to listen with an open mind when others speak, and to remember the peace that may be found in silence.”

Her spirit gently began her lesson.

“There is no such thing as ‘part-Cherokee Hialeah.’  Either you’re Cherokee or you’re not.  It isn’t the quantity of Cherokee blood in your veins that is important, but the quality of it…your pride in it.  I have seen full bloods who have virtually no idea of the great legacy entrusted to their care.  Yet, we have seen from you as little as 1/500th blood quantum who inspire the spirits of your ancestors because you make being Cherokee a proud part of their everyday life.”

“Remember this Hialeah; True thoughts have duration in themselves. If the thoughts endure, the seed is enduring; if the seed endures, the energy endures; if the energy endures, then will the spirit endure. The spirit is thought; thought is the heart; the heart is the fire; the fire is the Elixir.  Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget. We lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that, in a year’s time, will be forgotten by us and by everybody. No, let you devote our life to worthwhile actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring undertakings.  It is time to leave your husband Hialeah.  Your path in this world is important to balance the good and evil.  Your children are grown Hialeah and you will always be with them.  But it is time for you child of the light to complete your path in life.  When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice!  Peace and happiness are available in every moment. Peace is every step. We shall walk hand in hand with you Hialeah Elena. There are no political solutions to spiritual problems. Remember: If the Creator put it there, it is in the right place. The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears!’

“We will heal the wounds that are a nuances to you.  You must leave immediately to help a wounded spirit find his way home.  The light that you seek will be there to greet you when you have finished your task.  Take all that you own Child of Light and never return. Leave your faithful companion horse, he will pass in a few months, but keep brother wolf by your side.”

The front door opened and closed when the flame spoke no more to Celeste.
